Two Reasons To Use Food Packaging Equipment in Your Small Food Processing Plant

Posted on

If you run a small food processing plant and have, up until now, been having your staff package your food products by hand, here are two reasons why you should start using food packaging equipment instead.

You could experience a decline in your product contamination rate

One big benefit of getting food packaging equipment for your processing plant is that provided you sanitise this equipment regularly, using it could result in a drop in your product contamination rate. The reason for this is that whenever food products are packaged by people, instead of machines, there is always a possibility that human error will lead to contamination.

For example, whilst your staff who usually package your food products might always put on hairnets before starting their shift, they could still have a stray hair stuck to their coveralls or the exterior of their hairnet that could end up in a food product that they package. Likewise, whilst these staff members might always wear gloves, if a person's glove tears at the fingertip area due to their sharp nail, the dirt from under their nail could get into a food product that they handle.

Given that contamination can not only result in you wasting your ingredients and other food processing materials but can also lead to consumers who buy the products getting ill, you must make every effort to prevent this. By introducing food packaging equipment that minimises the involvement of people in the packaging of the food products, the risk of things like hairs, dirt and other contaminants getting into the food could drop dramatically.

The equipment will package the food more efficiently

Another reason why this equipment could be an excellent investment is that the equipment will be able to package the food very efficiently (much more so than your staff could). This is particularly important when packaging perishable food products that need to be sealed quickly to slow the rate at which they begin to spoil.

Additionally, this equipment can package foods at a high speed, without making errors that your staff might make if they attempted to package your products extremely rapidly (such as leaving gaps when sealing cartons of food with clingwrap). As such, if you get this equipment for your food processing plant, you could get your food products packaged faster, without having to be concerned that this will lead to the food not being packaged correctly.
